Philadelphia Business Journal Testimonial
This is a great e-mail received mentioning your network and the power we hold to share information!
"Dear Friend of the Business Journal:
In February, I sent out an email to many of you asking for help with our Minority-Owned Business List. I write today to thank you for your response.
Many of the original recipients of that email directly helped improve the response rate, by forwarding the email along to companies and to others. Some responded with feedback, and highly valued offers to help us to continue our efforts to be reflective of the entire business community in other ways, many of which we continue to pursue.
We went from having only 17 responses to our 2007 survey to 160 responses this year. The top-25 list that appeared in the April 4 issue was a far better reflection of minority-owned businesses than we've had in the past. Tops on the list was Team Clean, with 503 local employees, and the smallest
companies had 15 employees. We know we were not successful in getting some large companies to respond and we know we can improve this list further next year. I'm sure we will ask for your help again in 2009.
The reporters and editors of the Business Journal will receive information about all 160 respondents in hopes of building their source lists and finding ways of getting more of these companies into the paper over time.
We're specifically aware of email blasts going out from the Archer & Greiner law firm, Philadelphia MBEC, Pennsylvania MBEC and Diverse Philly. I'm sure there were more we were not aware of.
In addition to thanking you, I want you to know we're serious about our outreach efforts and they will continue in a variety of ways. It's gratifying to see people reach back to help us.
Have a great weekend, and don't hesitate to contact our reporters or me directly with feedback and story ideas. While we can't write up every suggestion we get, having more ideas to consider will definitely make our publications better and more diverse.
Bernie"
